In addition to our performance portfolio, Bilimankhwe Arts offers training sessions for teachers and communicators.
Bilimankhwe Arts Artistic Director Kate Stafford has developed an active learning methodology which combines Augusto Boal's
theatre of the oppressed,
Paolo Friere's informal learning techniques and conflict resolution and participatory theatre
techniques developed by Michael Owiso of Amani People's Theatre in Kenya.
The emphasis is on
sparking discussion and allowing participants to discover the information for themselves by working together actively
Training modules cover the following main areas:
- Educating through active participation
- Using forum theatre techniques with small and large groups
- Using song as an effective learning tool
- An introduction to Instant Theatre and other theatre-based learning tools
We offer INSET for schools and training for youth and community leaders.
We also offer partnership working with organisations seeking a more effective and transformational method of message delivery.
